PROJECT // SPACE GAP PAVILION COMPLETED

PROJECT // SPACE GAP PAVILION COMPLETED

Space Gap pavilion was designed and made by Unknown Works, the events programme was organised in collaboration with Hildrey Studio. Space Gap explored the disparity of space allocation in London for London Design Festival 2018. Set in front of Olympia, design and social issues from homelessness to ghost mansions are tackled through immersive installations, films, performances, talks, debates and in the pavilion design itself.

The pavilion is an open forum, set within a three dimensional spatial diagram that is formed from true stories of inhabitation found throughout London. It is both a representation and commentary on the absurd division of space allocation in London. It lays bare the appalling contrast in size, quality and density of occupation between the largest homes and smallest spaces that people are forced to endure.
